Our NAPO Nashville September meeting is all about how to take credit cards and other forms of payment in your business. Studies have shown that people will spend more when they are able to use credit cards for payment so this could be a great way to increase your revenue. This is a great meeting to invite potential Associate Members to our group as the topic relates to anyone who owns a business.

Time: 6PM – 8PM

Date: Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Location: Advanced Payment Solutions

The NAPO Nashville August meeting being held Thursday, August 12th, is VIRTUAL this month so you can join us in your jammies to learn all about being green in the Organizing industry. We’ve been lucky enough to have 2 great Chicago organizers talk with us about how they use green practices in their business and how we can too. Many of us are already “green” but might wonder how we can turn that into a viable option for making money in our business. These are the people to ask!

Register now to ensure your spot!

TOPIC For the August Virtual Meeting:

PO’s Going Green Organizers Linette George & Jan Wencel will lead us in a discussion on the greening of our profession. Learn new reduce/reuse/recycle techniques, share your tried & true methods, and brainstorm the next level of helping residential & corporate clients operate in a more sustainable manner.

BIOS

Linette and Jan are active NAPO-Chicago members, Certified GO System trainers and Certified Professional Organizers®.

Linette George founded Get Organized by George, Inc. in 2003. Through individual consultations, presentations, and group training sessions, she helps clients better manage not only their “stuff” but also their lives. Linette’s goal is to help clients live and work better with less, and go green. To that end clients are consulted on conscious consuming, non-toxic cleaning options, reuse, recycling, proper disposal of hazardous waste, and donation opportunities. Ultimately she streamlines and declutters clients’ lives and offices while raising their environmental consciousness. Linette heads up the NAPO-Chicago Green Team and the NAPO National Green Organizers SIG (special interest group). She is a member of Green America’s Green Business Network™ and is a board member of SCARCE.

Jan Wencel founded Life Contained, Inc. in 2005. She specializes in teaching busy professionals how to get work stuff done so they can live their life more joyfully. She often plays “email therapist” to professionals whose email inboxes are piled high with messages and gives hope to those who have a sense that there is no possibility of catching up. In 2001 Jan and her husband streamlined their possessions, pushed them into a storage locker, & took a year-long, life-changing travel sabbatical. Living from a backpack, she learned she can live happily on far less. She’s a NAPO-Chicago Green Team member, contributes ideas to the Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Committee where she lives, and volunteers for the Green Earth Institute, an organic farm in her community.

Hello NAPO Nashville members & guests! I am super excited about our July virtual meeting on Thursday, July 8th from 9-10:30 Central. YES, VIRTUAL! This means you can stay in your jammies and call in to learn about, wait for it…VIRTUAL ORGANIZING! I know, you’re thinking, what the heck is Virtual Organizing? Here’s your chance to find out from Virtual (and real life) Organizer, Heather Burke of Smart Spaces, from Ontario, Canada.

Heather Burke, founded Smart Space Organizing Inc. in 1999. She is a Silver Leaf Member and a Trained Professional Organizer with the Professional Organizers in Canada (POC). She is also a Golden Circle member with National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) Heather has earned her Chronic Disorganization (CD) Specialist and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) Specialist designations through the National Study Group on Chronic Disorganization (NSGCD). She works with both residential and business clients in addition to being a speaker, author and organizing expert in the local media. Heather serves as a regional ambassador for NSGCD. Heather and her team specialize in working with square pegs and round holes, or where traditional organizing methods do not work. Heather and her husband of over 30 years have moved to right size (downsize) their lives and enjoy family time.

In order to get a count, and deliver the handout and call in information, we need you to register. This is a free teleseminar (a benefit of being a member), with our regular guest fee of $15 for non-members.

A note to CPO’s and anyone needing CEU’s: This class will (or should) count as a CEU for NAPO National and the BCPO as it will be 1 hour and be direct organizing training. Our NAPO Nashville CEU form is available on the members only portion of our website. If you are a guest, please email me directly (liz[at]afreshspace.com) and I will send you the form via email.

You can register online by clicking here!

A Virtual Organizing session is live and interactive conducted over the telephone or computer like a conference call. Without the traditional face-to-face connection, unless you use Skype it’s vital that these sessions are structured, easy to manage and focus on important information to satisfy the client.

Who: Can benefit from Virtual Organizer – both the Professional Organizer and clients that are unable to access or afford tradition organizing in person sessions.

What: Goes into planning a virtual organizing session. What kind of equipment you will need. The needs assessment needed for a virtual session.

Where: From your home or office and from your client’s home or office

When: Do you use a virtual organizing session

Why: Give potential clients a new way to work with you and add a new income stream to your business.

How: Do you get paid.

Register online here!

Our meeting this Thursday, the 13th at 9AM will be held at the Starbucks INSIDE Target on Charlotte Pike (6814 Charlotte Pike) in Nashville/Bellevue area. Sherry is the name of the gal who will be there and she is expecting us. This location was chosen to give us not only a place to leave our vehicles while we carpool over to the work site after the meeting, but it’s proximity to the work site location with the added benefit of coffee!

Our meeting topic this month will be a recap of the NAPO National conference with highlights of what we learned (a good sized group of us attended) and choosing which CD’s we’d like to purchase as a chapter for those who were unable to attend to have available to listen to at your convenience.

Everyone is welcome at this meeting, as well as to assist in the planning at the YWCA afterward.

Please feel free to contact Liz Jenkins if you have any questions at 509-1933.
